2025 Style Goals
Daily intentions, fewer wardrobe crises, and mood boards for the upcoming year
New year, new goals – sound familiar? Resolutions are such a January cliché, and let’s be real, they usually vanish as quickly as they appeared. But for me, taking a moment to reflect on what I want to focus on in 2025 really helps. It’s about figuring out where I want to spend more time and energy. And, of course, I’ve got big plans for my wardrobe too – you already know from my last newsletter that saving money is high on my list. But trust me, I’ve got plenty of other style goals to tackle as well …
My goals for my personal style are pretty simple, but the path to achieving them feels anything but. That’s why I’m breaking this newsletter into two sections: the annoying and time-consuming practical goals, and the fun style goals – aka what I want to wear and how I want to look.

My Style Moodboard for 2025
Since I still haven’t quite mastered
’s three-word method, I’ve come up with a little alternative that helps me every morning when I have no idea what to wear. I’ve divided my style into two categories: Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. Why? Because summer doesn’t just bring a whole new vibe – it feels like a different version of me emerges, and with that, a different style.
Spring/Summer:
During these seasons, I tend to dress more femininely. I reach for dresses and skirts, brighter colors, playful details, and I’m a bit bolder and more experimental. My (still not totally Allison-like) words: Cool, Casual, Copenhagen, Los Angeles.

Fall/Winter:
Things get more minimalist. I rely on classic everyday uniforms, lean into muted colors, and go for a more elegant look. My words: Cool, Elegant, Casual, Los Angeles.
I don’t foresee these words and styles changing much. That said, I’m not entirely sure if I’ll feel as playful in the summer as I have in recent years. Right now, I’m gravitating towards more classic outfits, elegant pieces, and pants over skirts. Could I end up ditching my seasonal divide altogether? Who knows – time will tell!
My Style Ins for 2025
Master the denim game: Finally curate a small but perfectly fitting selection of jeans in different washes and styles.
Find alternatives to sneakers: Invest more in comfortable loafers, sandals, ballet flats, and especially boots (a must for Berlin’s weather, which demands them for about 9 months of the year).
Wear comfortable outfits: Choose looks that fit my life, schedule, and daily routine.
Invest in standout accessories: Think bags, belts, scarves, jewelry, brooches, shawls – you name it.
Look good on the way to Pilates: And feel great too! Plus, always be ready for spontaneous business meetings or co-working sessions afterward.
Get dressed every day: Whether it’s for working from home, co-working, dropping off at daycare, or running errands.
Finally accept my body: Wear clothes that I love, not ones designed to hide it!
No more morning outfit crises: Streamline my wardrobe so I’m no longer overwhelmed by too many choices – every piece is something I love and know exactly how to style.
The Annoying Steps to Get There (That Will Help Me Reach My Goals)
Flea market, Vinted, Vestiaire, Instagram sales — you always think, "Just one more round of decluttering and I’m done." But the real work starts after decluttering, and at some point in life, you realize it’s a never-ending cycle. That dreaded IKEA bag for Vinted? It’s here to stay. So annoying! But at the same time, it’s also the key to saving money. After all, money only comes in if you put the effort in – and only then can you spend it!
Photographing every single piece of clothing in an attempt to transform my chaotic, creative self into a Virgo version of me. I’m planning to try out the Indyx app, hoping it’ll bring more structure, give me a clear overview of what I actually own, and – most importantly – deliver the eye-opening realization that I have way too much stuff.
Continuing to work on myself and my self-image. Because yes, the body is undeniably connected to fashion, but after 30 years, I’m ready to let go of the idea that you have to look a certain way to wear something. I no longer want my genetics – something I have no control over and am tired of fighting against with endless diets – to dictate what I’m allowed to wear.
No more stressing so much. Being short on time always leads to outfit crises and dissatisfaction for me. And somehow, I’ve gotten into the habit of always leaving at the last minute. From now on, I want to take just 15 minutes every day to get dressed calmly and intentionally.
Speaking of getting dressed – I want to make it a point to dress up every single day. Working from home makes it way too tempting to spend the whole day lounging in sweatshirts and sweatpants. But I’ve realized I’m so much more productive and feel way better when I put on a little makeup and come up with a cool outfit. Plus, style is supposed to be like a muscle — you’ve got to train it. And lately, I’ve been way too much of a gym membership ghost when it comes to working on mine.
Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s coming your way in the next issue on Sunday:
Now that we’ve talked about goals, on Sunday we’ll also talk about mistakes and my list of things I absolutely DO NOT want to buy or will never buy – because I never end up wearing them anyway!
it's so interesting that we try to put our style into 3 words, although we don't want to be categorized. i think so often “that's so Marie”, i don't need three words for your style. and I don't think you need them either <3
